Perched on the western edge of UT Southern’s campus, the Curry Athletic Complex—formerly known as the Robert E. Curry Christian Life Center—has served as a cornerstone of the university’s athletic and wellness efforts since its opening in 1983. Designed to support both intercollegiate athletics and student recreation, the facility plays a vital role in daily campus life.
The complex features a full-size gymnasium that hosts home events for the Firehawk men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as the volleyball program. Additional amenities include an indoor track, racquetball courts, a weight room, cardio training spaces, and a fully equipped sports medicine training room. The Grissom Natatorium, housed within the facility, provides an indoor swimming pool used for instructional, recreational, and competitive purposes. In 2008, the natatorium underwent a $1 million renovation, and in the summer of 2024, it received a new pool liner to further improve its quality and longevity.
The Curry Athletic Complex remains a multi-purpose facility that supports physical education courses, intramural sports, and strength and conditioning for Firehawk student-athletes—contributing to the physical, mental, and spiritual development of the UT Southern community.
