PULASKI, Tenn. (10/31) - In a tough-fought challenge that pitted No.5 Martin Methodist and No. 9 Lindsey Wilson College in a regular season finale, the RedHawks emerged victorious, 1-0, over a team that has been in the top ten for 66 consecutive weeks. MMC completes their regular season with a 10-3-3 overall record, and as seven-time TSAC regular season champion with a perfect 6-0 mark.
The teams tangled in the first half, each taking six total shots, while MMC added pressure earning four corner kicks. Keeper Hanit Schwarz (Junior/Beer-Sheva, Israel) tallied three saves in the half, but at the end of the frame, however, the teams remained scoreless.
Both teams came out determined in the second period, but MMC would prove to have the upper hand, scoring in 53rd minute. Daniel Sofer (Sophomore/Hadera, Israel) sent a cross that ended up loose in the box after being punched out by the LWC keeper, but Mor Efraim (Sophomore/Nevatim, Israel) was there to recover and convert into the eventual game-winner, putting MMC on top, 1-0.
The RedHawks' outstanding performance didn't stop there, however, as Schwarz made a save that would preserve the win for MMC. A shot off the post for the Blue Raiders escaped, and was left wide open in the box, forcing Schwarz to make a diving save just in time to keep the 1-0 lead alive.
MMC will await the announcement of their opponent in the upcoming TranSouth tournament after the regular season closes on November 2nd.
