PULASKI, Tenn. – The No. 1 ranked Martin Methodist Women's Soccer team scored two goals in the first half and added four more in the second for a 6-0 victory over Middle Georgia State University at Grissom Pitch Saturday afternoon.
In just their second conference outing of the season, the RedHawks (12-0, 2-0) took 21 minutes to unlock the Middle Georgia defense, but produced two goals in quick succession to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
Similarly, the RedHawks waited nearly 30 minutes into the second half before they worked their way onto the scoresheet. But once they produced the third goal of the contest in the 73rd minute, the RedHawks produced three more for the 6-0 final score.
Miku Sunaga and Millene Cabral both scored two goals apiece for the RedHawks, while Riko Sagara and Hikaru Nakamura added the other tallies in the victory.
For the contest, the RedHawks enjoyed a 23-3 edge in shots and a 10-0 mark in shots on goal.
Caitlin Dumond faced three shots, but did not register any saves in her ninth clean sheet of the season.
With the win, the RedHawks improved to 7-0 at Grissom Pitch this season and 16-0-1 at home in two years under head coach Will Austin.
The RedHawks return to action next Thursday, Oct. 12, when they travel to face Faulkner (Ala.) University.
Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. in Montgomery, Alabama.
