PULASKI, Tenn. – The No. 5 Martin Methodist Women's Soccer team scored five goals in the first half hour of play en route to a 6-1 victory versus Dalton State (Ga.) Saturday afternoon at Grissom Pitch.

The win clinched a runner-up finish in the SSAC regular-season standings and gave the RedHawks (15-1-1, 8-1 SSAC) the second seed and opening-round bye in the SSAC Women's Soccer Championship, which begins next Saturday, Nov. 3.

The RedHawks will meet either No. 3 seed Mobile (Ala.) or No. 6 seed Florida College in a semifinal matchup on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at the Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Alabama.

Saturday's win was virtually never in doubt as senior forward Millene Cabral scored the first three goals of the match in less than 12 minutes. The hat trick marked the seventh of the year for Cabral and her third in as many games.

Sophomore forward Miku Sunaga added another first-half goal and Natsuna Sugishita capped the first-half scoring as the RedHawks held a 5-0 halftime lead.

The second half saw the visitors spring for a goal, but the RedHawks answered with the final tally of the day when Sunaga tucked away a chance in the 59th minute.

In addition to her first-half goal Sugishita assisted on three different tallies in the victory. Her 20 assists are an NAIA best through the RedHawks 17 regular-season games.

Martin Methodist will play one final regular-season tune-up before beginning postseason play.

The RedHawks will travel to Campbellsville (Ky.) on Monday, Oct. 29. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
