Box Score

PULASKI, Tenn. – The No. 5 Martin Methodist Women's Soccer team continued its strong start to the 2018 season with a 6-0 victory over SCAD-Savannah Sunday afternoon at Grissom Pitch.

The win was an easy one for the RedHawks (2-0), who scored three goals in the first half and added three more in the second en route to the six-goal victory.

Senior forward Millene Cabral notched four goals in the victory to give her six goals through her first two matches of the season.

Freshman defender Lira Mathes opened the scoring in the seventh minute after a corner kick from Natsuna Sugishita found the head of Miku Sunaga, who crossed it to Mathes for the finish.

From there, Cabral took over as she rattled off two goals in the first half and added two more in the second for her first hat trick of the year.

Freshman forward Mackenzie Stroebel added a penalty kick goal in the second half to cap the scoring for the RedHawks, who have scored 13 goals through their first two games of the year.

Caitlin Dumond made four saves over the course of 90 minutes to preserve her second clean sheet in as many tries.

For the second straight contest, virtually every RedHawk saw minutes.

With the win, the RedHawks improved to 2-1 all-time versus SCAD-Savannah. The RedHawks beat the Georgia squad 2-1 when they last met at Grissom Pitch in 2013.

The RedHawks return to action next Friday, Aug. 31, when they host Aquinas (Mich.). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Grissom Pitch.
