Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. – Martin Methodist Women's Soccer standout Millene Cabral scored four goals to reach 100 career tallies as the No. 5 Martin Methodist Women's Soccer team turned back a pesky Aquinas (Mich.) squad, 4-1, Friday night at Grissom Pitch.
After Cabral's eighth minute goal gave the RedHawks (3-0) an early advantage, it appeared as if they would cruise to another easy victory at home.
But the Saints (1-1) answered with a goal of their own less than a minute later when a free kick cross from Hannah Crum caught wind and floated over everyone and into the back of the net.
Deadlocked at 1-1, the score remained tied until the second half when Cabral caught fire and bagged three goals in less than 10 minutes.
Cabral broke the tie in the 59th minute when she took an aerial through ball from Natsuna Sugishita, moved past the Aquinas defense, and rifled a shot into the bottom right corner.
Cabral's third goal of the night came just 87 seconds later, when Ashlyn Wiggins slotted a pass to the streaking Cabral for the goal.
The fourth and final tally, to put Cabral at 100 career goals, came in the 67th minute when Cabral took aim, rattled a shot into the upper right corner that knocked around the frame of goal and fell into the back of the net.
After the match, Cabral was presented the game ball in recognition of her 100 career tallies – which places her just outside the Top 10 on the NAIA's all-time goals scored list.
The goals also lifted the RedHawks to a third straight victory to start the season.
After a stern test from the Saints, the schedule will get tougher for the RedHawks next Monday when they host No. 10 Columbia (Mo.) at Grissom Pitch.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
