Box Score FOLEY, Ala. – The #9 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team traded blows with #11 Southeastern and handed the Fire their first loss of the year in a 3-1 result on Friday.
UT Southern (5-1-1) scored in the 5th minute to hold the lead at the half. Marina Nawa finished the Nao Katamoto pass. The Firehawks led in shots 5-4 at the half.
In the second half, Southeastern (0-1) would add a goal in the 71st minute, but the Firehawks would add goals in the 63rd and 74th minute outscoring the Fire in both halves. Nawa would net the game winner from Katamoto. The pair would connect again for the final goal of the match. This time Katamoto would beat the keeper giving Nawa the assist. UT Southern held the shot advantage 16-13 and led in shots on goal 8-4.
Layken Stockstill (4-0-1) recorded four saves and allowed one goal.
