Firehawks Open Season With Win Over Lions

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's tennis team opened the Spring 2024 schedule with a tri-match exhibition with Sneed State CC and Wallace State CC on Saturday. The match with Sneed State was postponed to be made up later in the spring. UTS defeated Wallace State 6-1.

UT Southern took the doubles point, winning two of three matches, 2-6, 6-0, and 6-2. In singles, Emely Castro won in three sets. Otone Odajima, Sienna Ruberto, Yen-Ju Chang, and Leovanna Viamonte each one in straight sets.

NEXT UP

UT Southern will return to action on Saturday, February 24th, travelling to Florence, Ala, for a tri-match with Freed-Hardeman and Itawamba CC.
