PULASKI, Tenn. – Fourth-seeded UT Southern men's soccer saw its SSAC Championship quest end in dramatic fashion Thursday night, falling 1–0 in overtime to fifth-seeded #19 Dalton State College in the quarterfinals at Grissom Pitch. After 90 minutes of scoreless play, the Roadrunners found the golden goal in the 95th minute to advance.
Both sides played a disciplined and physical opening half with limited chances created. The Firehawks managed two shots and four corner kicks, while Dalton State was held to just two attempts and none on goal. UT Southern's back line, led by Riley Barratt and Benjamin Chretien, kept the match under control as goalkeeper Louis Hester remained untested through the first 45 minutes.

The Firehawks turned up the pressure after halftime, outshooting Dalton State 11–5 in regulation but were unable to find the net. Both teams went down a man in the second half, creating a tense and hard-fought finish.
In the closing minutes of regulation, both goalkeepers came up with huge saves to preserve the tie—Hester denying a breakaway chance and the Dalton keeper pushing away a Firehawk shot bound for the corner. The defensive duel carried into overtime, where each goalkeeper again made key saves early in the extra period before Dalton State found the game-winner in the 95th minute.
