MOBILE, Ala. – The 2025 SSAC women's tennis award winners were announced Wednesday evening by the Southern States Athletic Conference. William Carey claimed a trio of individual honors, while Loyola grabbed Doubles Team of the Year.
Coach of the Year: Marc Lux, William Carey
Player of the Year: Victoria Vieten, William Carey
Doubles Team of the Year: Lucy Carpenter / Chloe Henderson, Loyola
Freshman of the Year: Jian Kang, William Carey
Newcomer of the Year: Ainhoa Meili Fernandez, Middle Georgia State
Sportsmanship Award: Blue Mountain Christian
Vieten has climbed to No. 4 in the ITA rankings and is 6-0 and 11-0 in singles and 14-0 and 6-0 in doubles. She beat the No. 2 ranked player 7-6, 6-0. Lux guided WCU to an unbeaten conference record and another SSAC Regular Season Championship. Carpenter and Henderson are ranked No. 5 in the ITA and have combined for a 16-1 record, including 6-0 in SSAC action at the NO. 1 position.
