PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to rival Bethel (TN) on Wednesday evening at Grissom Pitch. The match featured plenty of energy and intensity from both sides, as the two long-time rivals traded chances in a contest that was fast-paced and physical throughout.

Bethel found the early breakthrough in the 17th minute when a serve across the box was tapped in at the back post. Just before halftime, the Wildcats doubled their lead after converting from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 heading into the break.

The second half began in a similar fashion, with Bethel striking quickly to extend their advantage to 3-0. UT Southern responded well and began creating more opportunities, with Lorick Gustave and George Grice testing the defense. The Firehawks were rewarded in the 63rd minute when Benjamin Chretien calmly buried a penalty kick, cutting the deficit to 3-1 and shifting momentum toward the home side.

Despite several pushes forward, Bethel's back line and goalkeeper held firm. The Wildcats eventually put the game out of reach with a late tally in the 86th minute.

Louis Hester was busy in goal for UT Southern, finishing with six saves while facing 23 shots. Chretien's goal was his third of the season, while Gustave and Grice combined for eight shots as they pressed to get the Firehawks back into the match.
