HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with No. 10 William Carey on Thursday night but ultimately fell 2-1 in a hard-fought Southern States Athletic Conference clash.
After a scoreless first half, William Carey struck twice in the second half to take a 2-0 advantage. The Firehawks responded in the 80th minute when Filippo Fregoli netted his fifth goal of the season to close the gap. Despite generating pressure late in the match, UT Southern could not find the equalizer.
Louis Hester made four saves in goal for the Firehawks, while UT Southern produced 17 total shots with seven on goal compared to William Carey's 11 shots and six on frame.
