MOBILE, Ala. – The No. 16 UT Southern women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw on the road against Mobile Saturday evening in Southern States Athletic Conference play, with goalkeeper Stephanie Hodgson making a crucial penalty save in the second half to preserve the result.
UT Southern struck first in the 17th minute when Charlotte Taylor converted from distance for her fifth goal of the season. Mobile equalized early in the second half to bring the match level at 1-1.
The turning point came in the 81st minute, when Hodgson denied a penalty kick to keep the Firehawks alive. Despite relentless pressure and multiple near chances—including two shots off the crossbar by Hikaru Uchida and Millie Rayner—UT Southern was unable to break through for a winner.
