UT Southern Cheer Earns Bid to NAIA National Championship

Firehawks One of 15 Teams Selected to Compete for Red Banner

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Tennessee Southern cheer team has officially qualified for the 2026 Nfinity NAIA Competitive Cheer National Championship, as announced by the NAIA.

The Firehawks are one of 15 teams selected to compete for the national title at the Stormont Vail Events Center in Topeka, Kansas, on March 27-28. UT Southern will perform fifth in the preliminary round, scheduled to begin Friday at 4 p.m. CT.

UT Southern earned its spot among the nation's top programs following a strong regular season and a podium finish at the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship. The Firehawks will be one of three SSAC representatives in the national field, joining Florida Memorial and Xavier.

The preliminary round will determine the teams advancing to Saturday's finals, which are set to begin at 10 a.m. CT. The 2026 NAIA National Championship will be streamed live on both the Urban Edge Network and the NAIA Network.

UT Southern continues to build momentum on the national stage, making another appearance at the NAIA Championship as the program looks to compete for its first Red Banner.
