PULASKI, Tenn. – The No. 22 UT Southern Men's Tennis team and UT Southern Women's Tennis team faced a challenging nonconference slate last week, taking on NCAA Division II opponent Montevallo before hosting Freed-Hardeman.
MEN'S TENNIS
No. 22 UT Southern opened the stretch against Montevallo, falling 5-2.
The Firehawks picked up a doubles win at No. 3, as Gaspar Audisio and Daiki Ishii earned a 6-3 victory. In singles play, Luis Guilherme Cupertino de Santana secured a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1, while Audisio added another point with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles.
UT Southern responded in a big way against Freed-Hardeman, sweeping the match 7-0.
The Firehawks claimed the doubles point with wins across all three courts. Quentin Ferron and Brock Hamilton won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, Luis Guilherme Cupertino de Santana and Ayden Kousis secured a 6-3 victory at No. 2, and Audisio paired with Ishii for a 6-1 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Luis Guilherme Cupertino de Santana led the way with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1. Ferron followed with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2, while Kousis added a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3. Lucca Roveda battled through a three-set match at No. 4, winning 6-1, 6-7, 10-4. Audisio earned a win by retirement at No. 5, and Daiki Ishii closed out the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
UT Southern Women's Tennis faced Montevallo and fell 7-0.
The Firehawks competed across all doubles and singles positions, with Ali Hamilton turning in one of the stronger efforts at No. 6 singles, pushing her match to a 6-4, 6-4 decision. Maya Balle also battled in singles play, dropping a competitive first set 7-5 at the No. 2 position.

The Firehawks swept the doubles point, as Maya Balle and Agota Juozapaviciute earned a 7-5 win at No. 1, Maggie Barnett and Ali Hamilton secured a 6-3 victory at No. 2, and Sofi Rueda and Sheyla Zombrano completed the sweep at No. 3.
In singles play, Maya Balle picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2. Agota Juozapaviciute followed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 3, while Maggie Barnett earned a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4. Ali Hamilton added a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5, and Sheyla Zombrano closed things out with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6.
UT Southern returns to action Thursday, March 19, as the Firehawks dive back into SSAC play with a matchup against Mobile.
