NEW ALBANY, Miss. – The No. 22 UT Southern Men's Tennis team opened Southern States Athletic Conference play Thursday with a 5-2 victory over Blue Mountain Christian, while the UT Southern Women's Tennis team battled but fell 4-3.

MEN'S TENNIS
No. 22 UT Southern 5, Blue Mountain Christian 2

The Firehawks opened the match by sweeping the doubles point. Brock Hamilton and Quentin Ferron earned a 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Ayden Kousis and Luis Guilherme Cupertino de Santana secured a 6-1 win, while Ryosuke Furuya and Gaspar Audisio closed doubles play with a 7-5 win at No. 3.

In singles play, Brock Hamilton claimed a three-set victory at the top position, defeating his opponent 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Luis Guilherme Cupertino de Santana followed with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Lucca Roveda added a 6-0, 7-6 victory at No. 4, and Ayden Kousis clinched the match with a comeback win at No. 5 singles, 3-6, 7-6, 6-2.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Blue Mountain Christian 4, UT Southern 3

UT Southern picked up a key doubles victory at No. 2, where Agota Juozapaviciute and Ali Hamilton edged their opponents 7-6.

In singles play, the Firehawks earned three points. Agota Juozapaviciute battled through a four-set contest at No. 3 singles, winning 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 10-2. Sheyla Zombrano delivered a strong performance at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 victory, and Maggie Barnett added a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6.

UT Southern will return to action on March 15 when the Firehawks face SSAC opponent Abraham Baldwin.
