CUTHBERT, Ga. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team delivered one of the most prolific offensive performances in program history Saturday afternoon, overwhelming Andrew College 27-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference action at Hord Athletic Complex.
The 27 goals are the most scored by the Firehawks since a 22-0 victory over ABAC on Oct. 27, 2024, and left UT Southern just one goal shy of the NAIA single-game record of 28 goals, set by Lindsay Wilson in a 28-0 win over Pikeville on Oct. 18, 2005.
UT Southern improved to 3-1-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play after scoring 19 goals in the first half and adding eight more after the break. The Firehawks dominated from the opening whistle, outshooting Andrew College 54-1 while holding a commanding 45-1 edge in shots on goal.
Courtney Hicks spearheaded the offensive explosion with a seven-goal performance, finding the back of the net seven times and adding an assist. Hicks scored five goals during a torrid 14-minute stretch in the opening half as the Firehawks quickly built an insurmountable advantage.
Kamilia Tayebi was equally impressive, tallying six goals and an assist. Ebony Wright added four goals off the bench, while Luella Cramer recorded two goals and an assist.
Osiris Rodriguez orchestrated much of the attack, finishing with a goal and four assists. Addison Massey contributed a goal and two assists, while Riho Masuya collected a goal and two assists in the victory.
The scoring started early when Hicks opened the floodgates less than two minutes into the match off a feed from Rodriguez. Tayebi doubled the lead in the 11th minute before Hicks struck twice in less than a minute as UT Southern raced ahead 5-0 before the 13-minute mark.
The Firehawks continued their relentless pressure throughout the first half, receiving goals from Cramer, Rodriguez, Palmeros-Solis, Wright, Lewis, and Massey in addition to a pair of Andrew College own goals. By halftime, UT Southern held a staggering 19-0 advantage.
The second half brought no relief for the hosts as Hicks scored twice more, Tayebi added four additional goals, and Masuya and Mia Saum each found the scoresheet. Tayebi capped the historic afternoon with goals in the 83rd and 86th minutes to push the final tally to 27.
In all, 10 different Firehawks recorded goals while the squad amassed 24 assists on its 27 scores.
Defensively, McKenzie Raine was rarely tested but made the lone save required to secure the clean sheet as UT Southern posted its fourth shutout of the season.
