PULASKI, Tenn. – The UT Southern men's soccer team picked up its biggest victory of the season Tuesday night, overcoming an early deficit to defeat No. 10 Lindsey Wilson College 3-2 at Grissom Pitch.
The win pushes the Firehawks to 6-0-1 on the season and extends their unbeaten streak to seven matches. UT Southern has now earned results against both No. 6 Cumberland and No. 10 Lindsey Wilson over the past two contests.
Lindsey Wilson struck first in the 16th minute, but the Firehawks refused to let the early setback slow their momentum.
UT Southern found the equalizer in the 29th minute when Devonte Allen delivered a pass to David Danquah, who finished for his team-leading fourth goal of the season to level the match at 1-1.
The two teams entered halftime deadlocked, but the Firehawks came out aggressive in the second half and eventually broke through.
Nick Miske provided the turning point off the bench. In the 71st minute, Filippo Fregoli fired a shot on goal that was turned away, but Miske crashed the net and buried the rebound for his first goal of the season, giving UT Southern its first lead of the night.
Miske struck again less than nine minutes later. Christian Sentz found the freshman forward in space, and Miske delivered his second goal of the match to extend the Firehawk advantage to 3-1.
Lindsey Wilson pulled a goal back in the 88th minute, but UT Southern's defense stood strong over the final moments to secure the ranked victory.
Goalkeeper William McGinn made five saves against the Blue Raiders, helping the Firehawks fend off several second-half attacks and preserve the win.
Danquah led UT Southern with five shots and a goal, while Miske scored twice on his only two shots on target. Fregoli, Sentz, and Allen each recorded assists in the victory.

UT Southern returns to Southern States Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 26, when the Firehawks host Blue Mountain Christian at Grissom Pitch.
