Volleyball: RedHawks Take Bulldogs in Three

PULASKI, Tenn. - MMC improved to 8-14 on the season, 4-5 in TranSouth with a three-set sweep (26-24, 25-20, 25-16) of Cumberland University on Thursday night. Ann-Katherin Kuehorn fueled the offense with 15 kills, while Ulirike Gebhardt posted a career-high eight blocks on the night.

Precious Sanders recorded her third triple-double of the season with 10 kills, 16 assists, and 15 digs on the evening, while Paula Sioto nearly missed a triple-double of her own with nine kills, 19 assists, and 13 digs. Sandra Stojimirovic added 13 digs and five assists, while Ya Zhao and Kuehorn eached turned in seven.

MMC fell behind early in the first set, but staged a come-from-behind effort that eventually went into extra points. The RedHawks forced the set to 24-24, and came away with the 26-24 victory.

The RedHawks controlled much of the second set, and captured the 25-19 victory. MMC struggled early in the third set, but again overcame the deficit, and cruised to the 25-16 win to clinch the match.

MMC will hit the road this weekend for a weekend tournament at Faulkner University to face tough competition in Faulkner, Webber International, University of Mobile, and No. 21 Spring Hill College.
