MAYFIELD, Ky. - Daniel Dunleavy has been named the TranSouth men's soccer Freshman of the Year, as it was announced Friday by the conference, while Joe Beecroft, Gideon Peterson, Stephen Lunney, Robbie Coffey, and Benji Ciosanski were named to the TSAC All-Conference teams.
Dunleavy in his debut season appeared 15 times for the RedHawks, scoring twice and tallying an assist while anchoring the RedHawks' defense. The freshman was named TSAC Defensive Player of the Week in his first collegiate season.
Beecroft and Peterson both earn first team nods for their performances this season, while Lunney, Coffey, and Ciosanski collected second team honors.
Beecroft notches his third straight first team award, holding down the MMC backline in 2011, starting 16 of 17 games this season and scoring a goal. Peterson begins his MMC career with a first team selection as a midfielder, starting in over half of the RedHawks' contests, and scoring a goal this season.
Lunney, MMC's starting freshman goalkeeper, was once named TSAC Defensive Player of the Week, and tallied six clean sheets, making 50 saves in his first year. Senior defender Coffey has been an everyday starter for the RedHawks, collecting six assists on the year, and earning his first All-Conference selection. Ciosanski, a freshman forward, earned 14 points this season, with five goals and four assists on the year.
In addition to All-Conference selection, MMC earned three Scholar Athlete award in Martin Campbell, Joe Beecroft, and Robbie Coffey. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.00 grade-point-average based on grades at the individual institution as of the beginning of the Fall semester.
