RedHawks Earn Road Win at William Carey

PULASKI, Tenn.- The Martin Methodist Volleyball team took to the road for a three game road trip against Southern States Athletic Conference foes University of Mobile (Ala.) Loyola (La.) University, and William Carey (Miss.) University last weekend.

The RedHawks (7-11, 5-5 SSAC) posted a 1-2 record over the three-game road trip. Their lone win came in the final match of the swing, as they went on to defeat William Carey (Miss.) University in straight sets, 3-0. The RedHawks dropped the first two matches at the hands of the Wolfpack of Loyola (La.) University and the University of Mobile (Ala.) in straight sets.

By picking up one win in a three match stretch the RedHawks were able to level their conference record at the .500 mark, maintaining their number four spot within the conference standings.

The RedHawks will return home to face Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University on Tuesday Oct. 4th inside the friendly confines of the Curry Christian Life Center.

First serve is set for 7 p.m.

University of Mobile 3, Martin Methodist 0:

In the first of three matches on the road trip, the RedHawks dropped the match against the University of Mobile (Ala.) by a final count of (25-14, 25-21, 25-21).

During the match, the RedHawks were led offensively by the trio of Genesis Meijas, Jade Paris, and Chakia Hinkle, combining for 17 total kills.

Defensively, Libero Hayley Brisendine led the way, posting seven digs, while teammates Samantha Davenport and Belen Albertos Asencio added six apiece.

Loyola University 3, Martin Methodist, 0:

In the second of three matches, the RedHawks fell in the match against the Wolfpack of Loyla (La.) University by a final score of (25-19, 25-16, 26-24).

Offensively, three RedHawks posted six or more kills, as Hinkle (9), Mejias (7) and Albertos Asencio (6) posted strong efforts.

Defensively, four RedHawks posted five or more kills, as Davenport, Albertos Asencio, Sydney Arnold, and Brisendine made a notable impact on the match.

Martin Methodist 3, William Carey University 0:

In the final contest, the RedHawks turned back William Carey (Miss.) University in straight sets, by a final tally of (25-19, 25-21, 25-18).

Offensively, three RedHawks combined for 25 kills. Mejias 12 kills led the effort for the RedHawks will Albertos Ascencio and Paris added seven and six kills apiece.

Defensively, the duo of Davenport and Brisendine proved to be a strong force as they combined for a total of 21 digs in the match.
