Box Score 2 MOBILE, Ala. – The Martin Methodist Men's Soccer team struggled to find its footing in a 4-0 loss at No. 9 University of Mobile (Ala.) Wednesday afternoon.
The loss was a frustrating one for the RedHawks (9-5, 2-3 SSAC), who fell behind early and were never able to regroup for a comeback.
The Rams (10-2-1, 5-0 SSAC) scored just five minutes into the contest and added two more first-half goals to take a 3-0 lead into the halftime break.
The home side added a final tally in the 64th minute to secure the victory.
The RedHawks produced nine shots in the defeat, but only one was on target. Senior forward Jack McCarren led the way with three shots. No other RedHawk produced more than one shot attempt on the evening.
The Rams, meanwhile, offered 14 shots and produced eight shots on goal. RedHawk goalkeeper Naoya Fugono made four saves in the defeat.
The loss marked a third straight defeat for the RedHawks, who had raced out to a 9-2 mark to start the season prior to the losing streak.
The RedHawks will close their season with two difficult contests at Grissom Pitch, beginning with a matchup versus No. 1 William Carey (Miss.) University Saturday afternoon.
Kickoff in Saturday's contest against the top-ranked Crusaders (13-0, 5-0) is set for 4 p.m.
