RedHawks Split at Lindsey Wilson Classic

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Martin Methodist Volleyball team split four matches last weekend at the Southeastern Challenge on the campus of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College.

Webber International University def. MMC (28-26, 25-21, 25-13)
The RedHawks opened the Southeastern Challenge against Webber International University. Martin Methodist put up a fight in the first two sets, losing by a narrow margin each time. By the third set, Webber was able to pull away for a more significant victory. Sabrie Sirmones led the offense with seven kills and Sophia Pass added six. Sydney Arnold had 11 assists 10 digs and Belen Albertos Asencio had 11 digs.

(RV) Campbellsville University def. MMC (25-12, 25-18, 25-15)
The last match of the first day proved to be a tough one for the RedHawks. Martin Methodist was able to hang around during the beginning of every set, but the athleticism of the Campbellsville Tigers allowed them to outlast the RedHawks. Sabrie Sirmones had nine kills for the RedHawks. Sydney Arnold had 19 assists and Belen Albertos Asencio had 17 digs.

MMC def. Bryan College (25-18, 25-11, 25-15)
The RedHawks started off the second day of the tournament with a sweep of Bryan College. It was truly a team victory as every player got the chance to contribute. Sabrie Sirmones had 12 kills on 25 swings, hitting .400. Lauren Martin also hit an impressive .538 with 7 kills on 13 swings. Sydney Arnold had 27 assists and Belen Albertos Asencio had 18 digs.

MMC def. Milligan College (25-23, 26-24, 25-23)
The RedHawks ended the day with another 3-0 victory over Milligan College. The match was back and forth throughout most of the sets, but Martin Methodist was able to hold on each time for the sweep. Sabrie Sirmones had a season high 19 kills and hit .402. Sydney Arnold had an impressive 41 assists and added 14 digs. Belen Albertos Asencio had a career high 37 digs to round out the impressive play from the RedHawks.
