RedHawks Sweep Bethel for Second Time

McKENZIE, Tenn. – The Martin Methodist Volleyball team made quick work of rival Bethel (Tenn.) in a
3-0 sweep Wednesday night at Crisp Arena.

The win marked the eighth straight for the RedHawks (16-9, 10-2 SSAC), seven of which have been conference victories. The RedHawks have now won four straight matches versus their rivals and moved the RedHawks two matches clear of the competition for second place in the SSAC standings.

The match was a quick one for the RedHawks, who won by a 25-21 margin in the first set, a 25-20 edge in the second and closed out with a 25-13 margin in the final frame.

Senior outside hitter Sabrie Sirmones finished the night at a blistering attack clip for the RedHawks. Sirmones posted 18 kills on 36 total attempts with one error for a .472 attack percentage. The 18 kills accounted for more than half of the team's kills on the night as the RedHawks posted 32 team kills.

Sirmones also notched nine digs defensively in the win.

Reigning SSAC Setter of the Week Sydney Arnold posted another strong performance as she handed out 29 of the team's 31 total assists.

Hayley Brisendine led the RedHawks with 13 total digs. In addition to Sirmones nine digs, Samantha Davenport also added nine digs on the night.

The match marked the first test of a tough road swing for the RedHawks, who will head to Faulkner (Ala.) on Friday and Mobile (Ala.) on Saturday.

First serve in Friday's matchup is set for 7 p.m. in Montgomery, Alabama.
