Box Score 2 PULASKI, Tenn. – The Martin Methodist Men's Soccer team scored a goal with just under five minutes left in the second goal to come away with a 2-1 victory versus Dalton State (Ga.) Saturday afternoon at Grissom Pitch.
The goal came in the final moments of regulation for the RedHawks (10-7, 5-3 SSAC), who had surrendered an equalizer just seven minutes prior.
Guilherme Calache worked the ball down the right flank, fired a cross into the box for Jonas Arcalean, who passed along to Juan Yepes for a curled shot into the back of the net.
The efforts from Calache and Yepes capped a strong day for the RedHawk substitutes, which also saw fellow substitute Filip Malmgren score a first-half goal. Yepes provided the first assist on the goal, passing to Miguel Tizapa down the left flank and crossed over to Malmgren for the goal.
The win lifted the RedHawks to a fourth-place finish in the SSAC regular-season standings and gives the RedHawks the corresponding home game in the opening round of next week's SSAC Men's Soccer Championship.
First-year SSAC member Florida College stunned the NAIA Saturday afternoon when it drew previously unbeaten William Carey (Miss.), 0-0, on the road. The draw lifted Florida College to a total of 16 points, while Martin Methodist and Mobile (Ala.) finished with 15 points each.
The head-to-head tiebreaker between Martin Methodist and Mobile sees the RedHawks advance as the fourth seed due to the 3-0 victory over the Rams when the teams met at Grissom Pitch back on Oct. 13.
Kickoff time for next Saturday's contest has yet to be announced.
