Box Score

PULASKI, Tenn. – The Martin Methodist Men's Soccer team picked up two victories to begin Southern States Athletic Conference play last weekend.

On Thursday, Martin Methodist opened its SSAC slate with a 2-0 victory at Brewton-Parker (Ga.).

Jonas Arcalean and Mario Lopez bagged the goals for the RedHawks in the two-goal victory. Both goals came in the second half as the RedHawks outshot the Barons by a 12-8 margin.

The RedHawks (7-4, 2-0 SSAC) followed up with a 2-1, come-from-behind victory at Middle Georgia State on Saturday.

After they fell behind in the 32nd minute, the RedHawks rallied for an equalizer from Arcalean in the 40th minute to go into halftime tied, 1-1.

In the second half, the RedHawks notched the game-winner when Arcalean took a pass from Marco Ballarin and sent it home in the 87th minute.

The wins marked the fifth and sixth consecutive victories for the RedHawks, who have not suffered a defeat since a loss to Life (Ga.) back on Sept. 8.

The RedHawks will put their six-match winning streak on the line this Saturday when they travel to face conference rival Bethel (Tenn.). The Wildcats (9-2, 2-0 SSAC) are riding a seven-match win streak themselves.

Kickoff in Saturday's showdown is set for 4 p.m. in McKenzie, Tennessee.
