RedHawks Sweep Weekend Matches

PULASKI, Tenn. – The Martin Methodist Volleyball team racked up a pair of victories over the weekend, highlighted by a dramatic 3-1 victory versus Florida College in Friday's 2018 home opener.

The RedHawks (5-6, 1-0 SSAC) dug themselves into a bit of a hole, but rallied in convincing fashion to start the weekend in the 3-1 victory versus Florida College. The RedHawks claimed a 25-21 first-set victory, but dropped a 29-27 decision in the second frame. In the third set, the RedHawks grinded out a 25-19 victory to take a 2-1 lead into the fourth frame.

The fourth set got off to a rocky start as the RedHawks fell behind early and never looked comfortable. The visitors built their lead all the way to a 21-10 margin before the RedHawks began to mount a comeback.

From there, however, the RedHawks claimed 15-of-23 points to roar back and seize the match-clinching frame.

Chandler Salvig, Lauren Martin and Sabrie Sirmones led the RedHawk attack as they notched 15, 14 and 13 kills apiece, respectively. The trio accounted for 42 of the RedHawks 56 total kills on the evening.

Sydney Arnold posted a double-double on the evening as she doled out 39 assists and notched 14 digs.

Hayley Brisendine led the defensive charge for the RedHawks as she posted 20 digs. Katelyn Wear and Bobbi Anduha added eight and seven digs defensively.

On Saturday, the RedHawks made quick work of visiting Crowley's Ridge (Ark.) in a 3-0 victory.

Sabrie Sirmones led the RedHawks with 10 kills on 19 total attacks, but 10 different RedHawks notched a kill in the victory.
