Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. – The Martin Methodist Men's Soccer team bagged a pair of goals in the first half and added two more in the second in a 4-0 victory versus Brewton-Parker (Ga.) Thursday night at Grissom Pitch.
After a back-and-forth opening 15 minutes, the RedHawks (10-5, 2-3 SSAC) struck for their first-half goals in quick succession.
Reigning SSAC Player of the Week Miguel Tizapa brought down a ball, made one defender miss, and then rifled a shot home for the match's opening goal in the 18th minute.
The RedHawks added a second goal just three minutes later when Alex Kleczkowski found Mario Lopez, who blasted a shot home to put the RedHawks ahead by a pair.
Outshooting the visitors 8-1 in the first half, the RedHawks continued their intensity in the second frame as they struck for goals in the 79th and 85th minutes to put the game to bed.
On a night where the Men's Soccer program recognized seven seniors as part of Senior Night ceremonies, it was senior Drew Bradford who struck for the goal in the 79th minute. Sophomore defender Harald Sollund added the penalty kick goal in the 85th minute to cap the scoring.
Goalkeeper Francesco Zanin picked up the win in net, making one save for the RedHawks. The junior gave way to backup Nathan Brown late in the contest, with Brown recording two saves himself to preserve the team shutout.
The RedHawks will cap their regular-season home schedule on Saturday, Oct. 26, when they host Middle Georgia State. The Knights (5-9, 0-5 SSAC) suffered a hard-fought 3-2 double-overtime defeat at Bethel (Tenn.) in their Thursday matchup.
The RedHawks then travel to Faulkner (Oct. 31) and Dalton State (Nov. 2) to close their regular season.
