Box Score Pikeville, Ky. - The University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks suffered a double overtime loss to Pikeville 2-1 today.
The decision snapped a four-game winning streak for the Firehawks (6-6, 3-3 MSC).
Pikeville (1-8, 1-5 MSC) went ahead via a 10th minute score from Favio Govea on the assist from Logan Cales.
From there, the Firehawks would draw even in the 33rd minute when Paul Castell would find the net from the boot of Carlos Galan.
At the half UTS would outshoot the Bears 8-3.
The Firehawks would hold an 11-3 second half shot advantage but couldn't compose a game winner. The Firehawks had an excellent chance in the 84th minute as Galan took a corner for the Firehawks. The kick was delected by keeper Jalen Smith into the net, but the goal was not allowed. The first extra period UTS would have a 3-1 shot advantage, but both teams remained locked at one. In the 102nd minute, Yuri Rocha would head a golden goal in of a set piece from Govea.
The Firehawks would have 22 shots over Pikeville's nine.
Ajay Murray would record four saves on six UPike shots on goal.
