Bowling Green, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern (23-12) volleyball team came up short tonight against #23 Lindsey Wilson 14-25, 13-25, 25-18, 15-25 in the MSC Quarterfinals.

The Blue Raiders (22-5) took the first two sets handily over the Firehawks. Only committing five errors, UTS duked it out with LWC in the third to avoid the sweep. LWC dialed up the heat with 17 kills in the final set to advance to the semifinals.

The Firehawks were led in kills by Maca Ruiz with 13 and Brianna Turner added 12. Laura Howell amassed 33 assists. Summer Jackson rounded up 27 digs.

"We didn't get the final result we wanted, but our team gave it all they had tonight! To be down 0-2 in our first match, and win the match showed the girls determination to succeed, Coach Jackson Lenoir said. "We battled in our second match against a very tough Lindsey Wilson team. We hated not being at 100% for this tournament with a couple of injuries, but our girls gave it all they had and we couldn't ask for anything more. We wish our eight seniors the best."
