MMC Advances with 4-0 Victory Over Thomas More University

PULASKI, Tenn. – MMC shut out Thomas More University, 4-0, on Monday night to advance to the MSC Men's Soccer Tournament Quarterfinals.

The RedHawks were able to take an early 1-0 lead in the 11th minute off the foot of Alejandro Blanco (FR/Bucaramanga, Colombia), a score that would hold until well into the second half.

Methodist outshot Thomas More 7-2 in the first period of play, and continued the onslaught in the second period. Carlos Galan (FR/Madrid, Spain) put one in off an assist from Miguel Tizapa (JR/Mexico City, Mexico), as Tizapa scored not long after on a penalty kick in the box. Jonathan Hoeegsberg (FR/Odense, Denmark) closed out the scoring with a late goal from Manuel Otera.

Adam Persson (FR/Gideonsburg, Sweden) finished the evening with the clean sheet for the RedHawks saving two shots on goal in the second period. The RedHawks maintained possession for much of the match, and totaled 16 shots with seven on frame while Thomas More totaled just four shots and two on goal.

Martin Methodist advances to the Men's Soccer Tournament Quarterfinals and will face No. 3 seed Cumberlands (Ky.) at 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday, April 9 in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
