Box Score Pulaski, Tenn. - The Tennessee Southern Firehawks used three first half goals to defeat the Thomas Nighthawks 3-2 at Grissom Pitch tonight.
The Firehawks(2-3) fell behind early when Regan McLaurin, of the boot of Giacomo Bacigalupo, cashed in on an one-on-one chance against Ajay Murray in the 16th minute. UTS would draw even in the 23rd minute as Mario Lopez found the net from the assist from Miguel Tizapa. Tizapa would add another goal for the Firehawks from the assist of Manuel Morales in the 37th minute. UTS cashed in on a deflected corner kick off the boot of Lopez just two minutes later. Thomas had a 5-4 shot advantage, and UTS would lead at the break 3-1.
Five minutes into the second half the Nighthawks would score again of the head of Hudson Cougill. McLaurin would zip a cross into the box that deflected off the head of Cameron Hawkins.
Goalkeeper Murray played a full 90 minutes for the Firehawks and recording eight key saves on 10 shots on goal.
Coach Brian Davies commented on the quality win, "I am proud of our young men tonight. We've been in games like this all season, and the team played with composure. Our guys were not intimidated with their unblemished record. This is a great momentum builder for our opening MSC match with Life on Tuesday".

The Firehawks return to Grissom Pitch on Tuesday, September 21st to open Mid-South Conference play against the Runnin' Eagles of Life University. Kickoff is set to begin shortly after the completion of the women's match at the Pitch.
