Box Score Pulaski, Tenn. - Tennessee Southern men's soccer put forth a valiant effort just coming up short 1-0 against #15 University of the Cumberlands on Saturday.
UTS (2-5, 0-2 MSC) had control of the first half. The Firehawks outshot the Patriots 6-3 and had the advantage on corner kicks 7-0.
UC (2-3-2, 1-1 MSC) got on the board in the first in the 48th minute. Joachim Blomsterberg connected with a header off of a corner kick assist from Stephen Appaih. UC would only have one other shot on goal for the game.
Coach Brian Davies was reflected on the team's performance today. "I am at a loss for words as I feel gutted for our players. If you would have told me we would hold the #15 team in the country to six shots and two shots on goal, with the chances we created tonight I would have thought we would have cashed in on an big win. Our team is playing so well and are not getting rewarded for it yet! The wins will come, and I think we will be a tough opponent for any team we face moving forward!"
