Firehawks Put Lions to Sleep

Jackson, Tenn. - A strong defensive performance led the UTS men's soccer team to a shutout win of over Freed-Hardeman (5-3, 1-2 MSC) Tuesday afternoon.

The Firehawks (3-5, 1-2 MSC) scored three first half goals. Manuel Morales started the rout early in the 21st minute. Pietari Vanska had a strong performance off the bench adding a goal in the 31st minute off the Mario Lopez assist. Lopez would find the nylon in the 38th minute. UTS would double up FHU in shots 8-4 at the half.

The second half was more of the first. Lopez would find the net again from the boot of Miguel Reyes in the 73rd minute. Manuel Santos would add a later goal in the 82nd minute. The Firehawks would outshoot the Lions 14-5.

Goalkeeper AJ Murray was credited with the shutout compiling 3 saves. 

Coach Brian Davies commented on the win, "I am very please with our teams performance today. We have been creating many chances lately, but goals haven't been coming. Today that was not the case. We will see if we can continue the momentum going into Thursday's match with Asbury."
