PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team fell in straight sets (19-25, 23-25, 16-25) on Saturday (Sept. 10) against Lindsey Wilson.

The Firehawks fought to hang with the Blue Raiders but faltered down the stretch in each set as LWC cruised to a three-set win.

Sophia Ortega led with 15 kills on 31 swings. Brianna Turner also recorded double-digit kills with 11 on 33 hacks. Laura Howell recorded her 3rd double-double in a row and her fifth on the season with 33 assists and 11 digs. Hannah Oliver (15) and Morgan Avrit (12) each reached double-digit digs for the Firehawks.

The JV Firehawks recorded a 2-0 sweep of the Blue Raiders.

NEXT UP

Tennessee Southern will travel to Lebanon, Tenn., to battle Cumberland at 7 p.m on Sept. 14. The JV team will take on the Phoenix at 5 p.m.
