Avrit's Double-Double Highlights Firehawk Loss to Crusaders

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team claimed the opening set but couldn't close out any of the next three nailbiters in a 3-1 loss to William Carey on Friday.

UT Southern (13-12, 5-7) were rolling in the first set, and led in each of the final three sets down the stretch. William Carey (13-16, 7-6) were unflappable in the final few points to split the season series with the Firehawks.

Morgan Avrit led a double-double adding 16 kills and 14 digs. Laura Howell had 32 assists. Hailey Walker led the defense with 21 digs, and Isabella Garza gathered 12 digs.

NEXT UP

UT Southern will close out the home stand with Hawtoberfest festivities tomorrow. The Firehawks will host Loyola at the CAC for senior day on Saturday, October 28th The first serve is set for 2 p.m.
