Nawa Hauls Four Goals, No. 5 Firehawks Pulverize Point

PULASKI, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team got back on the pitch after hurricane Helene played havoc on their schedule. The Firehawks stormed the Skyhawks to the tune of 13-nil on Wednesday night.
In the first half, the Firehawks lit up the scoreboard netting seven goals. The game winner came in the 13th minute on the strike by Marina Nawa off the Keito Ido pass. Nawa struck again inside of the 15th minute from the lag from Ido. In the 16th minute, Ido finished the double helper from Miran Sakai and Jessica Glassman. With the three goal lead, Kamilia Tayebi netted her fourth twin pointer on the Nao Katamoto setup. Ido found the twine again in the 28th minute from the Maclani Michael pass. Michael (Tayebi assist) netted the sixth Firehawk goal of the half in the 32nd minute. Nawa would tack on her third of the half in the 37th minute all setup by Hikaru Uchida. UTS led 22-0 in shots and 12-0 with shots on target at the break.
In the final half, the Firehawks continued the onslaught tallying six second half scores. Inside of the opening minute of the half, Sakai found the net on the Katamoto assist. Katamoto would add another score for the Firehawks on the double assist from Uchida and Nawa. Nawa completed her haul lifting the Firehawks to a double-digit lead on a penalty kick in the 51st minute. Katamoto completed her brace in the 66th minute on the Sakai helper. Glassman would score the 12th goal for the Firehawks that was setup by Michael. With the three seconds left, Karis Knaggs scored her first goal as a Firehawk from the Morgan Sharp lag. UTS dominated the final shot count 35-0 and 19-0 in shots on goal.  
Stephanie Hodgson (2-0-1) worked a scoreless opening half. In the final half, Petra Brncova, Abby Guy, and Carissa Carvella didn't face a shot sharing the clean sheet.

The Firehawks will welcome Faulkner University to Grissom Pitch for a Southern States Athletic Conference showdown on Saturday, October 5th. The Firehawks will honor the squad's seniors between matches. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
