TIFTON, Ga. - The University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 22-nil road rout over Abraham Baldwin on Sunday. The match was originally scheduled for September 29^th, but hurricane Helene forced the match to be rescheduled. The 22 Firehawk goals set a new program record surpassing the previous mark of 19 set by the 2005 squad. Martin Methodist defeated Union University 19-nil on October 18, 2005. SSAC CHAMPIONSHIP
With today's win, UT Southern ended conference play tied with William Carey at 10-0-1. Due to goal differential the Firehawks are the SSAC Regular Season Champs and will be the top seed in the Conference Tournament.
The Firehawks will host the eighth seed next week at Grissom Pitch in the SSAC Quarterfinal. The seeds are almost solidified but still awaiting the outcome of the Brewton-Parker/Life match to be played on Monday, October 28^th.
NEXT UP
The Firehawks host the SSAC Championship Quarterfinal next week at Grissom Pitch. UTS will host Faulkner on Friday, November 1^st. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
