PULASKI, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team celebrated senior day with a 2-1 comeback win over Faulkner on Saturday. Seniors honored prior to the match included Tatye Aldridge,
Michael Anderson, Daniel Ava Lozano,
Rostand Essomba,
Manuel Flores,
Carlos Galan,
Alan Munoz,
Manuel Silva, Tyler Thomas,
Gabriel Vielma, and
Manuel Villena.
In the first half, the Firehawks and Eagles began a torrid defensive battle. In the 25
th minute Faulkner struck first silencing the Firehawk faithful in the early going. UT Southern had may great looks in first period, but the Eagles were up to the task to hold the 1-nil lead. UTS led in shots at the half 10-4 with Faulkner leading in shots on target 4-1.
In the final half, the Firehawks scored two quick goals to stun the visitors from the Gump. It all started 28 seconds into the final half.
Mak Binder terminated a bullet of pass from
Nick Miske leveling the match at one. Four minutes later, a Galan corner kick found
Benjamin Chretien deep inside the 6-yard box. Chretien launched the corner past the Faulkner keeper to net the game winner. Down the stretch, Anderson was a shot blocking machine preserving the Firehawk win. UTS out shot the Eagles 14-11 and Faulker led 8-5 in shots on goal.
Anderson (6-1) allowed one goal and recorded seven saves en route to the senior day win.
