MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball team opened Southern States Athletic Conference play tonight in the Gump against Faulkner. The Firehawks stumbled in the second half to fall 67-62 on Thursday.
Three Firehawks scored in double figures in the loss.
Vito Vujovic led with 14 points.
Mark Vance added 12 and
Koby Isaac pitched in 11. Vujovic and Vance are averaging 15.6 points per game each. Vujovic pulls down 8.6 boards per game while Vance gathers 6.6.
UTS led 25-24 at the break shooting 44 percent, 10-23, from the floor. The Firehawk defense held Faulkner to 1-12 beyond the arch and forced 10 turnovers.
The final half the home team would out shoot the visitors from Pulaski 55 to 53 percent. The Eagles out scored the Firehawks 10-6 at the free throw line, but UT Southern connected with five triples and holding Faulkner to one.

The Firehawks will return to the Curry Athletic Complex to host William Carey in a Saturday matinee beginning at 2 p.m.
