MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Emma Vizina of UT Southern was named SSAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Zaniyah Wilson of William Carey (Miss.) was named SSAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
The awards are based on performance for the week of March 4-10.
Emma Vizina (UT Southern – SO – Victoria Island, B.C.)
· This is her first-career outdoor honor
· Won the 800m (2:27) at the Falcon Classic with a time that ranks second in the SSAC
· She also placed sixth in the 1500m at 5:01
Zaniyah Wilson (William Carey – SO – North Miami, Fla.)
· This is her first-career outdoor honor
· Wilson placed 3rd in the triple jump (11.42m) at the South Alabama invite
· The mark ranks first in the SSAC
