No. 3 Firehawks Storm the Bears in Rout

PULASKI, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team recorded their third clean sheet of the early season with a 10-nil drumming of former Mid-South Conference foe Shawnee State on Saturday.
In the first half, the Firehawks scored three goals and received a Shawnee State own goal to lead 4-nil at the half. Hikaru Uchida netted the game winner in the second minute from the Nao Katamoto assist. Marina Nawa doubled the firehawk lead in the 10th minute a penalty kick. The Bears tried to clear a ball from deep in their defensive zone but it eneded up in their own net. With a 3-nil lead, Maclani Michael netted the first of her three strikes from the Jessica Glassman pass in the 24th minute. UT Southern led in shots 15-2 at the break.
In the final half, the Firehawks bombarded the Bears scoring six goals. Keito Ido scored in the 54th minute finishing a Kamilia Tayebi lag. Nawa completed her brace in the 58th minute on the Ido pass. Uchida netted her second of the match from the Miran Sakai helper. Katamoto beat the keeper terminating the Nawa pass. Michael netted the final two goals to post a hat trick for the match. UT Southern dominated the shot count 33-3 and led in shots on target 24-2.
Petra Brncova (4-0) didn't face a shot in 22 plus minutes. Stephanie Hodgson recorded one save working 22 plus minutes. Abby Guy worked 21 plus minutes and didn't face a shot. Carissa Carvella mopped up the shared clean sheet recording one save.
