FOLEY, Ala. - The University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team was in familiar territory on Friday night defeating #20 Southeastern 5-1. The game was played at Foley Tourism Soccer Complex, the site of last year's NAIA National Championship.
In the first half, the Firehawks scored three goals blowing the game open against the ranked Fire.
Marina Nawa scored a pair of goals in the 19
th minute assisted by
Hikaru Uchida and
Keito Ido. In the 31
st minute,
Maclani Michael added a two pointer on the lag from
Nao Katamoto. UTS led 11-4 in shots at the break.
In the final half, the Firehawks added another quick goal in the 47
th minute.
Mia Saum found the net to put the Firehawks up by four. The Fire would end the UTS quest for a clean sheet in the 65
th minute. Katamoto would add her second goal of the match in the 79
th minute from the Ido assist. UT Southern dominated the shot count 21-14 and doubled up the Fire in shots on target 12-6.
Petra Brncova (5-0) faced 4 shots on target allowing one goal and recording three saves. Brncova got the start and worked 79 minutes between the sticks.
Stephanie Hodgson recorded two saves in the final 11 minutes.

The Firehawks will close out the Orange Beach Classic on Sunday, September 8th. The #3 UT Southern Firehawks will take on #8 Keiser Seahawks. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. Keiser defeated #2 William Carey tonight 2-1.
