PULASKI, Tenn. - UT Southern celebrated Hawktober Fest in style Monday night, sweeping Oakwood (25-13, 25-15, 25-19) inside the Curry Athletic Complex. The Firehawks improved to 9-5 overall with the victory, while the Ambassadors fell to 8-4.
The Firehawks dominated from start to finish, hitting .264 as a team while holding Oakwood to a -.023 hitting percentage. UT Southern controlled the tempo early, racing to a 25-13 win in the first set and never allowing the Ambassadors to find a rhythm. The second set followed a similar script, with strong serving runs and clean execution pushing UTS to a 25-15 win. Oakwood made a late push in the third, but the Firehawks' balance at the net closed out the sweep 25-19.
