PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team closed out its home slate in style Thursday night, defeating Point University 5–1 at Grissom Pitch. Prior to the match, the Firehawks honored their seven seniors — Hector Garcia, Louis Hester, Riley Barratt, Dawson Atnip, Mak Binder, Dakota Jackson, and Bryce Gomez — for their dedication and contributions to the program.
UT Southern (7–4–2, 3–3–1 SSAC) jumped ahead early and never looked back. A Point own goal in the 22nd minute opened the scoring, followed just two minutes later by Mak Binder's first of three goals on the night, assisted by George Grice.
The Firehawks carried a 2–0 advantage into halftime before Felix Hammel added to the lead in the 48th minute, finishing a setup from Binder. Binder then tallied again in the 61st, assisted by Daquan Duhaney and Garcia, pushing the margin to 4–0. After Point got on the board in the 64th minute, Binder completed his hat trick in the 84th minute thanks to a double-assist combination from Garcia and Estaban Rangel.
Goalkeeper Louis Hester, the reigning NAIA and SSAC Defender of the Week, was steady in goal, making five saves in his final home appearance.
