OAKVILLE, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's cross country team earned a strong runner-up finish at the 2025 SSAC Cross Country Championships on Friday morning at Oakville Indian Mounds Park. The Firehawks placed second overall with 44 points, narrowly behind team champion William Carey (40).
Leading the way for UT Southern was freshman Linah Ewoi, who posted a time of 22:43.51 to take fourth place overall. Alyssa Andrea followed close behind in fifth at 22:48.65, while senior Emma Vizina crossed in 23:07.17 for seventh.
Junior Claire Deaton claimed 11th with a time of 23:35.76, and Cierra Arnold rounded out the Firehawks' scoring five in 17th at 24:43.50.
Depth proved to be a key factor for UTS, as Lou-Anne Bernard (21st, 25:05.61) and Lauren Hallmark (23rd, 25:07.79) also finished inside the top 25, with Amelia Worsley (29th, 25:26.71) and Neidyn Lopez-Hernandez (36th, 26:06.14) providing valuable support.
UT Southern's team time of 1:56:58.59 gave the Firehawks an average of 23:23 per runner, just 15 seconds behind the team title pace.
