SEWANEE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern swim teams continued their early-season progress Friday evening in a dual meet against Sewanee at the Fowler Athletic Center. The Firehawks collected several event victories and numerous top-three finishes, highlighted by standout performances from both veteran and first-year swimmers.
On the men's side, Janos Kadar captured the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.39 and later added a runner-up finish in the 200 backstroke (2:00.92). Jamie Allison powered to victory in the 200 butterfly, clocking 2:05.81, while Tyson Ries dominated the 200 breaststroke (2:24.12) and took third in the 200 IM (2:15.97). Hamza Asif was strong in the sprints, placing second in both the 50 free (21.91) and 100 free (48.68), with Rafael Gallegos following closely in third in the 100 free (50.55).
The men's 400 medley relay (Michael McDaniel, Ries, Allison, and Noah Sarbacker) finished third in 3:54.05, while the Firehawks capped the meet with a commanding win in the 200 freestyle relay. The quartet of Logan Jones, Kadar, Asif, and Gallegos stopped the clock at 1:28.76 to seal the victory.
On the women's side, Morgan Brosch led the way with top-three finishes in both the 200 freestyle (2:07.12) and 500 freestyle (5:47.18). Alexis Milani posted strong sprints with a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle (59.57) and fifth in the 50 free (27.41). The women's relay team of Brosch, Milani, Diana Lacal Gracia, and Finley Boston closed out the evening by winning the 200 freestyle relay in 1:59.82.
