Cheer Opens the 2025 Season with Two Podium Finishes

MARIETTA, Ga. – The University of Tennessee Southern cheer squad opened their quest to defend their Southern States Athletic Conference Championship competing in the Life U 2025 Classic over the weekend. The event was broken down into two separate competitions. In the opening session, UTS finished third out of 10 teams and took the top spot in the second meet.

Coach Keye Matthews had this to say about this weekend's meets, "I am very pleased with our performances this weekend. We made some last-minute adjustments to our routine but were focused and confident. One costly mistake placed us in third for the first competition. We executed flawlessly in the second segment resulting in a win."
NEXT UP
The Firehawks will travel to New Orleans, La., to compete in the Battle in the Big Easy hosted by Xavier. The multiday event will begin on Friday, February 28.
