ELKHART, Ind. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's swimming team was represented at the NAIA National Championship by three swimmers.
Alli Wells,
Anastasia Newton, and
Kelsey Shand each competed as individuals in several events.
Alli Wells
Wells made her second appearance in the NAIA Championship competing in the 500 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, and 200 Backstroke. She finished 17
th in the 100 Backstroke in 58.79 and finished 13
th in the 500 Freestyle in 5:10.35. Her best finish was in the 200 Backstroke placing 9
th in 2:05.73. Her time in the 200 Backstroke set a new Firehawks program best.
Anastasia Newton
Newton made her first appearance in the NAIA Championship competing in the 100 and 200 Butterfly. Her best finish was in the 200 placing 19
th in 2:13.39. Newton finished 20
th in the 100 in a new program record time of 58.57.
Kelsey Shand
Shand competed in her first NAIA Championship racing in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke. She finished 31
st in the 200 in 2:34.91. Her best finish was in the 100 at 28
th in 1:09.06.
Earning 13 team points the trio placed 19
th in the team standings.

Trevor Trimpe commented, "This was a huge growth year for Firehawk Swimming, the men's and women's teams both improved tremendously. I'm ecstatic for what we will accomplish next season!"
