Mostella Named SSAC Cheer Athlete of the Year, Firehawks Finish Second in Southern States Athletic Conference Championship

DECATUR, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern cheer squad set out to defend their 2024 SSAC championship today in Decatur, Ala. The Firehawks came up short by a slimmest margin to 2025 champion Florida Memorial by 0.55 points.

UT Southern senior Nakiya Mostella was named SSAC Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of today's SSAC Championship.
The Firehawks also had five representatives on the SSAC All-Conference team. Aspen Grubbs, Chloe LeClaire, Colt Roberts, Karly Harvey, and Mostella were honored for their excellence in competition at the banquet on Friday night.
NEXT UP
The Firehawks will await the NAIA Championship selection show to learn if they receive an at-large bid to the national championship. The NAIA Championship will be held in Ypsilanti, Mich., on March 28-29.
